Selling property to foreigners: the process step by step

From the tax number to the valuation report, the translator and the land registry appointment: the path for sales to foreign buyers.

White houses and the marina in Bodrum

The share of foreign buyers in Bodrum and Istanbul grows every year. The process has a few extra steps compared with a Turkish buyer.

1. Tax number

The buyer gets a tax number at the tax office with their passport in a few minutes.

2. Valuation report

A licensed valuation report is mandatory for sales to foreigners; it takes 3–5 business days.

3. Military clearance

The land registry checks that the property is not in a military or security zone.

4. Appointment and translator

A sworn translator is required for buyers who do not speak Turkish. The deed is handed over after the transfer.
